Music plays a key role in Delivering Diamonds Nearly every chapter presents a brief lyrical connection to the themes of this book. Even if a particular song is unfamiliar to the reader, the characters help explain the musical message that fits the story's situation.  Lines from a few songs help narrate the story ala Stevie Wonder's childhood memories featured in "I Wish" (Songs in the Key of Life).  However, rock music takes a back seat to the role that children play in this story 
Ben and Claire reference a variety of songs in the story, capturing more the mood than the literal message of the song.
